Return of the fetus

Written on: Friday June 19th, 2009

A journal entry from: El Salvador

I am sharing my room with a gecko. It looks like a fetus. Alice and I managed to coax it out of my room on Tuesday and yesterday night when I arrived home it was back in its usual spot by the curtain rod. I think it lost its hand during its absence because where a normal-sized gecko hand used to be it now has what looks like the beginning of a new hand-formation. The little bastard wakes me up at all hours of the night with a shrill noise that sounds like something between kissing and beeping. But he's starting to grow on me, I guess.

Better a gecko (that eats bugs) than a giant cockroach!

Capture it and take it far away!

I met a gecko when I was in Taiwan. He/she did not follow me home. But, he/she did pose for me as I took his/her picture.
