A journal entry from: South Africa

To continue on...

We left early the monday morning for our last destination - Cape Agulhas (The Southern Most Tip on the Continent of Africa). To give Anja a break from all the driving I drove from our hostel in Hermanus to the tip of Africa. It was on about about an 1 1/2 hr drive.

We kinda thought we might be lost but before we knew it we hit the Cape. It was a small town but incredibly beautiful and quaint. One won't find a lot of foreign tourists mostly local tourists. We drove through the town right up to the famous light house. The most southern tip of the continent is actually about 850 metres behind the light house. We drove down the dirt road to find it. This particular point is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean. A very wild, wet and rocky point in the world.

We had some coffee/hot chocolate and a couple very large scones in the light house restaurant before wandering the through its small museum. We paid a small fee to climb to the top of the light house. What a spectacular view, one must hold on to their hat because it is incredibly windy up there!!!

We headed back to Cape Town a short while later. We stopped in a small town and its tiny harbour on the way. This particular town is supposedly known for its sting rays but we couldn't find any.

We had about a 3 hr drive back to CapeTown. We shared the driving on the way back. I drove the first leg and Anja the 2nd.

Anja and I are renting a room from a lady she knows. I am not allowed to stay in residence (it is small anyway). We are more comfortable in this room. It has a tiny kitchen, shower, toilet. I will take pics and include them later.

So upon our arrival into Cape Town we picked the rest of our stuff from med res and drove to our new temp home.
