Kyoto day 13 - Jack's last day

Written on: Wednesday February 17th, 2010

A journal entry from: Japan 2010

Today was Jack's last day. His flight left from Osaka in the evening. For his last day in Japan, the thing he most wanted to do was to go to Kappa Create one last time for lunch. When we got there, there was actually some special on (either a lunch time or a mid-week thing?), and we got plates for 90Y! Then, he wanted to look around Downtown Kyoto one last time, while I went to look at Nanzen-in (another temple). Nanzen-in was nice, but I liked Chion-ji's gate better.

2pm was my sightseeing cut-off time for heading back to the hostel to say goodbye to Jack. I got back in time, and walked with him to the station. The train ticket to the airport was at least a $40 round trip (and 4 hours), so I didn't want to go along with him. He headed off, and I headed back to the hostel.

That night, I found a "Ramen zone" on a previously unexplored level of Kyoto station. One of the floors had about 7 ramen restaurants all in the one place. This made me sad, because Jack loves ramen and we had been in Kyoto two weeks together, then I find this place just hours after he leaves!
