Tokyo day 7 - John Lennon Museum

Written on: Monday January 25th, 2010

A journal entry from: Japan 2010

Today was Jack's "rest day", so I caught the train 40 min to Saitama to see the John Lennon Museum. The museum is really out of the way, not in any of the guidebooks, etc., so it was almost empty! The museum was set up by Yoko Ono, and each room reflected a different period in John's life. I liked the "early days" room where you got to see John's school work, report cards, drawings, etc. The second last room, the Dakota Building room, was the saddest, the bedside table was set up exactly how it was the day John was killed. I got back to the hotel around 3pm, and Jack was still in bed! He did eventually get up, and we went to the Ameyoko arcade, dinner was one of the best we had in Japan: yakiniku/Korean BBQ in our own private booth. I also had the best plum wine that I've tasted, so smoothe!
