A journal entry from: Round the World in 172 days . . .
Whilst we were in Hong Kong we thought it would stupid not to go to Macau and it was only an hours ferry ride away on the Turbo Jet, which only cost about 20 pounds so even more reason to go!
Macau, was a little like Hong Kong, but a little more dated in parts and other parts were the complete opposite, as there we some really new and impressive casino's - apparently they are improving the whole place in an attempt to turn it into another Vegas. They've got a long way to go, but I think they'll get there and guarantee everyone will be talking about it in ten years time! It's illegal to gamble in China and Hong Kong, so there's a huge gap in the market in this part of the world for a casino city!
We had lunch there and then went and had a dabble in the Lisboa casino, that was until we were $270 down and left a little deflated! Don't worry it's only about 20 quid but as we're used to living on next to nothing as it's so cheap out here that was a whole days budget! Pretty funny, being as we wouldn't flinch at buying a few drinks at home for the same amount!
Anyways that's it really, another stamp in the passport - they're filling up now!

Hiya! Paul Merton is doing a series about China at the moment which the government are not liking and keep following them. they snuck off to 'dog street' where dog's the only meat on the menu, I take it you didn't go there?! Its interesting seeing the things you talk about. Bet that was good to get fresh fruit off the market! Lots of love! XX

Hello again tis I. Just looking at photo's, the buildings look a lot more interesting & imaginative than here. Do you think they are generally more artistic, or is it just the way things have evolved out there? Good job you sisd't take any more cash to the casino, or you might have been tempted to try to win back what you'd lost. Bye for now XX
