The Collignon Market in Amelie

Written on: Thursday May 24th, 2012

A journal entry from: Charlo the gnome's travels

Hello Charlo!

Have you seen the movie Amélie (Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)? In the movie, Amélie often buys food at a local market where Mr. Collignon works. Mr. Collignon is not very friendly and is mean with Lucien, one of his employees.

The market used in the film really exists, in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris, France, but the owner is not Mr. Collignon. The real name of the market is «Marché de la butte».

I took pictures of the real market for you. You will see little gnomes and Amélie posters and pictures installed around the market in reference to the movie.

Here is your mission: name at least ten food items, vegetables or fruits, that you can see in these pictures. Click «Add a comment» on the bottom of this page to answer. Write those twenty fruits and vegetables in English and in French.

Check in next week to see where Charlo the gnome is at!
