Khao Sok National Park

A journal entry from: Elective 2007!!

We took the overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thami on our way to Khao Sok and it actually wasnt bad at all! Having been told we were going to spend 12 hours on a hot, cramped train we weren't exactly looking forward to the trip, but, whilst it was what you'd call spacious, it was comfortable enough and we were kept cool by the fan! We even ate dinner on the train, and it was surprisingly good (although the promise of being served dinner by ladyboys did in fact turn out to be a spurious rumour, rubbish.)

Anyway we reached the National Park, and went to our jungle huts. It rained pretty much the whole 2 days we were there (what can you expect in the raibforest?) but that didnt stop our activities. We went elephanting (and it was a much more comfortable ride than in Chitwan!) in the rainforest, and then had fun feeding the greedy elephants bananas afterwards! We also went 'tubing' down the river in the rain (riding rubber donuts) which was great fun but a bit scary at times as the current was pretty fast due to all the rain! They said the route we did should have taken 1 hour but it only took 25 mins ha!

Last night we we went across form the huts to the Rasta bar for a bbq and drinks. It was good, even though the Thai musical taste is pretty cheesetastic! The funniest part was seeing the hard-looking bald guy behing the bar busting a move to the locomotion. Priceless. The food was great and Kim managed a couple of cocktails! Im still recovering from a nasty bout of diarrhoea and am taking antibiotics (self prescribed of course!) so steered clear of the booze!

Today we arrived in Krabi, and are hitting the beach - yipee! will update when i can next be bothered haha!! xx
