A journal entry from: Elective 2007!!

Hello (lazy me?) So we arrived in Bangkok safely on friday evening, although im sure news of this already filtered through! We pretty much just crashed that night as we were tired from the journey and Kim was still throwing up! But we got ourselves up to do some exploring on Saturday!

We went to a couple of temples, the best one we saw was the Golden Mountain which we climbed up and got a good view of Bangkojk from the top of it! We also found Khao San Road where did some shopping and drinking! We headed back to the hotel in the evening to meet the rest of our group, and go for dinner. They seem like a pretty good bunch so far, mostly English with a couple of Austrailians and an American girl as well1 We went to a nice restaurant for dinner and some soem gorgeous thai food, followed by some drinks on the lively Khao San Road! Good times.

On Sunday we did some more exploring - we went to the Grand Palace, and the reclining Buddha (Wat Pho!) They were pretty impressive. Although Kim managed to lose/ have her purse stolen so we were delayed a bit by that and consequently didnt get round to seeing some of the other stuff we had planned to. Not to worry though, we thought it would be a good idea to have ride down the river in a longboat (or glorified canoe if you ask me) and see some of Bangkok from the water. It was good fun and when we got off we were able to do a spot of shopping in one of the malls. Gutted about missing the temple with the big cats, i guess that should teach me to update this here blog more often! Anyway,  then we tuk tukked it back to the hotel as we had to leave at 5 to get the overnight train to our next destination...
