Nagarkot and Bhaktapur

Written on: Saturday June 16th, 2007

A journal entry from: Elective 2007!!

So yesterday afternoon (friday) we decided to get out of the smog and noise of Kathmandu and headed out to Nagarkot! This is a little place about and hour and a half east of kathmandu and much higher up! There wasnt much there but the main reason to go is to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas (which is reason enough!) so we found a place to stay and did that this morning! I have some photos which i'll add in due course - im crap at traking pics but you'll get the idea! Shame they won't do it justice though - it was amazing! Last night we went and had dinner in Nagarkot and a couple of 'Everest' beers - it was pretty quiet but enjoyed it!

Today we have come to a place called Bhaktapur - which is great (no cars, cobblestone streets, not as many people and lots of temples/shrines/squares to see!) Its the third largest city in Nepal but is still kept traditional (unlike Kathmandu!) So we're doing a walking tour of the city (have just ducked into a cyber half way through as its really hot!) We plan to get lunch, and then get the bus back to Kathmandu - which should be interesting! Will get photos up once back in Kathmandu!
