Teacher's Trip to Sokcho

Written on: Sunday June 8th, 2008

A journal entry from: Korea

We had June the 6th off in Korea. For the long weekend, our director took all of the staff on a trip to Sokcho, on the east coast of Korea. The first day we spent almost 15 hours on the bus! Long weekends in Korea are insane, everyone goes somewhere and travel times triple. And we thought things were bad at home. We made a couple of stops on the way. At the first one we saw an old South Korean battle ship and a North Korean submarine. The second stop was at a cruise ship on land with a sculpture park around it. It was about as interesting as it probably sounds. We were told we were going to a beach but it turned out we only had half an hour there haha. For lunch we had fish soup and for dinner we had sashimi, raw fish. When we got to the hotel there wasn't enough beds for everyone. It was an interesting day to say the least haha. The next day we went to Seoraksan, a well known mountain. The scenery was beautiful and we had a good time there, even though breakfast was tofu in water haha. I think we were all glad to get home and have the rest of the weekend to recover from our vacation!
