A journal entry from: New Zealand
We only stayed here one night but the trip there was pretty cool! We got to stroll along a hot water beach which was a brilliant experience. Everyone from the bus hopped off and headed to the beach and waded out to the hot water area. Its pretty amazing the water itself isnt warm but the sands under your feet are really really hot!! You cannot stand still for more than a few seconds at a time otherwise you will get seriously burnt. The heat comes from underwater streams heated by molten rock! Wish I paid more attention in Geography class to understand it better. When the tide goes out you can dig a whole in the sand and ly in the water for a natural bath.
From there we ventured to cathedral cove which is a nice hidden area along the coast. It took 45 mins to walk down to it but it was definately worth the walk....
