I splashed in a puddle in Berlin, and I liked it.

A journal entry from: Europe 2011

The last place. What a time this has been. I made it to Berlin yesterday morning after a horrible ride on the night train. The seats reclined too much and there was a bunch of noisy teenagers on my wagon that were running up and down the aisle and making a horrible racket. A few of the adults on the train told them off a few times but it was sometimes of no use.

Funny thing, when I was waiting outside the train station in Munich, a mother and her little boy, probably around the age of 2 to 3 sat down next to me. The boy was wheeling around his mothers luggage and just having a jolly good time until the mother made him stop. So he sat next to me instead and just stared a my luggage. This kid was pretty tiny so I knew he couldnt lift mine. He saw me looking at him and went up to the luggage and tried to lift it, which he couldnt. I chuckled, and then he chuckled and said something in German, which I just replied, Ja! We continued a conversation in this manner with me making a muscles pose with him and doing high five and only saying Ja and No until I think he realized I didnt understand. Then the little beggar started making fun of me, shaking his head going "ja ja ja no no no" and laughing at me. Which made me just laugh at him. It was pretty cute but then he had to leave.

Berlin is pretty cool. I am staying in East Berlin, which you can tell is different from the West with alot of Soviet design and architecture. The locals say that subculture is big in this area, I#m not down, to me it just seems like there is extra graffiti - everywhere! But there is a good row of cafes where there are NO TOURISTS! At least it doesnt seem like it.

Today Im going to head down to Potsdamer Platz and the Jewish Museum, see how the line to the Reichstag is, and just walk around.

If the Italians loved their  scooters, then Germans love their bicycles. Im still getting accustomed to watching for their special lanes on the sidewalk, a few bells and whistles have been directed my way. And I love love love the transit, so easy and quick!

Sun is shining so I better go enjoy it while its here - it poured last night.
