A journal entry from: Oh, I am going to China

Hello all, I'm just having a quick layover in Vancouver. It's funny how things work out sometimes. As you know, I've had a bit of a cold.  Well it wasn't much better when I woke up, but I didn't pay attention because I was focused on the trip. Nose was stuffed up but not much other than that. I fell asleep on the plane but woke up to terrible pain in my left ear, it reminded me of the pain I equated with flying when I was 5 years old, but I hadn't felt it since then.  I tried counting numbers and writing in my journal until we landed. Once we did I was pretty pooped and didn't feel like going out like I had planned, but I knew I didn't want that same pain for the second time in a day so I took the bus downtown and got off at the same stop as the majority of people. Thinking of finding the Shopper's the bus had passed earlier, I started walking, but what to my wandering eyes did appear - but walk-in clinic ! I could not believe it, and it was about to open in ten minutes! I went in and was the first patient of the day for Dr James Felix. Interesting guy he was, young, short, Indian, cute and above all dressed in a Lacoste tshirt and bluejeans which gave me a chuckle! Anyways, my left ear is infected which explains the pain, but he said that I could still fly, thank gosh! I've got penicillin and sutafed so we'll see how that treats me. It would have been nice if this hadn't have happened, but then again it could have gone much worse ie not going to a clinic and finding out that it was infected.

Anyways, enough with the health talk - this is about travel.

I was to Vancouver in my little years but don't remember.  It's sunny and warm out, and as soon as I stepped off the plane I could smell the ocean with my one unstuffed nostril. Ahhhhh. The airport is gorgeous, it's very BC-like with lots of native art such as totem poles and greenery outside. Downtown feels like any other larger Canadian downtown I've been in, say Calgary for instance.

Not much else to report. After my dr date I went in to the closest cafe, which was called Cafe Philharmonic, what do you know they were playing Tosca inside and had pictures of Asian Symphonies on the walls! Bizarre how I found it.

Love to whoever is reading this, because it really is just a bunch of garble, so thanks for taking the time. I'm off to the airport again, I take off for HK in four hours :)
