You've Gotta Start Somewhere

A journal entry from: Oh, I am going to China

Bonjower or shall I say Ni hao! Shevaughn or Shevy here. Long story short I am going to Hong Kong. and China. I leave in one week, scratch that four days. I bought the ticket on a whim three weeks ago. Its funny that I never envisioned that I would go to such destinations on my first trip out of the country by myself, but then again many things I have envisioned haven't gone as planned and my life couldn't be better, so what the heck. I am going to attempt giving a try at this "blogging" thing once I fly off into the wide blue yonder, scratch that, grey smog. We shall see if I keep it updated though, I won't make any promises. Not sure about how much access I will have to the internet, and even more unsure about how much time I will spend when there will probably be so many other new things to do and experience.

Okay I am nervous. Nervous that y'all will be reading my writing that is! What I am not nervous about is the trip, I am excited beyond belief though.  I am impatient for the day to come and for me to find out what it is like to be in another country and experience a different culture.  This feeling will probably grow even more today when I purchase my backpack and start to fill 'er up. I am going to attempt to just bring that - a backpack, albeit a 50 L one. Can't predict how much I will return with though. What I am excited for is seeing my Uncle Tim and Aunt Simone along with my new cousin Georgina Elizabeth. It has been many years since I've seen Tim and Simone, I think I was 11 the last time? I am so happy to be seeing them again, and am very thankful that they have opened their home to me even with it being a hectic place with three-week old Georgie. Simone has been helping me get more of a travel plan and join a tour group so I don't get kidnapped by a kung-fu specialist to be their protege or anything. I was planning on just backpacking it and going from hostel to hostel and city to city like my Quebec Ontario extravaganza last year, maybe a bit to naive of me though to think that the same strategy would work in China.

I work doubles between jobs over the next few days, ain't no letting up for this woman! Will probably have a few other nights like this when I can't seem to really hit the pit. So will give more details on exactly where I am going then. Just want to give a shout out to another adventurous woman out there - my cousin Shauna who just happens to be gallavanting about Europe at the moment, in Prague right now if I do remember correctly. Hope you're having a blast! Later gators. haha I wonder if anyone will read this to the very end. xoxo
