Hakai Ranger

Written on: Wednesday August 20th, 2008

A journal entry from: Bella Coola, BC

We took the BC Parks boat out to sample streams in the maritime and hypermaritime zones. After heading up to the Kynoch in the great bear rainforest, warnings of gale force winds sent us to Klemtu for fuel and then south to Hakai Pass where Parks has a float house in Pruth Bay. We had to spend a couple of days hunkered down, eating crab and combing beaches (rough, I know). Our skipper, Jim Glenn, kept us busy with his bagpipes and stories about the history of Namu, Bella Bella and fisheries on the outer coast.
