"Off-the-beaten-track" in Cachi

Written on: Saturday May 5th, 2007

A journal entry from: See you next year!

After beautiful Cafayate, we managed again to get away from civilization on roads less travelled, with some fellow travellers we had met there. We travelled through tiny villages on the back off pick-up trucks, filled with locals and their undefined belongings, driving through amazing scenery and surreal landscapes full of giant cactuses, vicuñas, goats, wild donkeys and the like.

Somehow this feels much more like travelling than the southern Argentinian long-distance buses that serve food and show the latest movies on TV. You are closer to the amazing surroundings and it makes you feel more alive, but that could have something to do with being closer to death ..(no worries, we are fine, no hospital this time).

*sigh* I envy you guys! :-) Enjoy! Keep these stories coming, so us 'worker ants' can take our mind off work once in a while.
