Monday at the Markets

Written on: Sunday January 13th, 2008

A journal entry from: See you next year!

The highlight of our short trip through the Mekong Delta was a boattrip from Can Tho to 2 floating markets and through some nearby canals and rivers.

Especially visiting the floating markets was really nice. Although I seldom venture out at a market in daily life I do know what they look like in Holland. Or in a lot of other countries for that matters. But these floating markets were definitely different, mainly because they were, well, floating, as the name suggests.

There were dozens of boats floating away, their people selling the produce of their farms. And dozens of boats floating away, their people buying the produce from the farmers. And all these boats, people, fruits, vegetables, rice, baskets and the odd duck or two made for a colorful experience. See for yourself on the pictures.

P.S. After Can Tho we went to Ho Chi Minh City, were we are now. So for now no more new stories...
