Fun in the Sun!

Perched atop the rocky cliffs of Varkala was the newest place that I called home.  Madison did a fabulous job choosing the room: the location was ideal, the cost was cheap ($6/pp) and the balcony overlooked the golden sands 120 feet below.

We strolled along the boardwalk on our first night, viewing the never-ending parade of shops offering their wares to the hoardes of tourists. After the mandatory thirty minute power outage was over we decided to dine on some of the plentiful fresh seafood.  Squid and prawns were on the menu tonight, and although the preparation left a little to be desired, the ambiance was ideal.

The next morning came and we made the most of our location, ordering breaky from the restaurant next door and having it hand-delivered over the railing to our balcony! What a great way to start the day.  Fully energized, we set off to exlpore the beach.  We ran, swam, snorkeled and boogie boarded while other travelers chilled under their umbrellas or did yoga in the setting sun.

We weren't overly ambitious, so the remainder of our time here was spent in a similar fashion.  We played on the beach, shopped, ate fresh seafood, got massages and overall just relaxed - not a bad way to spend a few days in Inida.
