A journal entry from: Got to be True to Myself!, JUL08-SEP09
This is intended simply to give you an idea of where I will be on this expedition. Although I will use this as a rough outline of the places I want to see, it will most certainly change as the trip progresses. So here it is!
14JUL08: Depart MSP, arrive Viti Levu, Fiji (via LAX). Spend six days diving and exploring this island, or Taveuni.
21JUL08: Sail amongst the Mamanucas, Fiji. I will be joining a private yacht in Fiji upon which I will be serving as a crew member. Although my current sailing experience is limited, the co-captains are very experienced sailing in this region. One of the benefits for me will be learning to command a sailing vessel confidently by myself.
There is significant information on the website for the Moet:

31JUL08: Sail amongst the Yasawas, Fiji
18AUG08: Sail to, and explore Tanna, Vanuatu
25AUG08: Sail to and explore Lifou, New Caledonia
02SEP08: Sail to and explore Noumea, New Caledonia
07SEP08: Solomon Islands
10SEP08: Papua New Guinea
24SEP08: Bali, Indonesia
01OCT08: Lombok, Indonesia
08OCT08: Komodo/Sulawesi, Indonesia
14OCT08: Borneo: Malaysia (probably via Singapore)
17OCT08: Brunei
20OCT08: Cebu, Philippines
24OCT08: Palau
31OCT08: Yap
07NOV08: Guam
11NOV08: Beijing/Great Wall, China
16NOV08: Hong Kong
19NOV08: Vietnam
25NOV08: Cambodia
01DEC08: Agra, India
03DEC08: Goa, India
07DEC08: Trivandrum, India
17DEC08: Seychelles
24DEC08: Kenya, etc. This time is very flexible, as I hope to have somebody visit me from the states. Depending upon who and when, we could go to Kenyan safaris, including Uganda for mountain gorilla safari, or island-hop between the Kenyan coast, Zanzibar, Comoros, etc.
11JAN09: Douala, Cameroon
15JAN09-17FEB09: Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana with an organized tour. I've chosen Dragoman adventures for this (and the following) tour, as Western Africa is one of the few places in the world that I wouldn't mind going with somebody else...especially if that somebody has local experience, which they have.
Here is the trip that I'll be taking: http://www.dragoman.com/destinations/tripdetails.php?cat=TLW
17FEB09: Ghana
18FEB09-27FEB09: Mali, possibly overland through Burkino Faso
28FEB09: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
02MAR09-06APR09: Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa. Attached is a tour that I may do...or I may explore solo in this area, as I have some experience here already. Plus I'd like to spend more time in Mozambique!

07APR09-11MAY09: South America. At the moment, it is difficult to know exactly what I'll want to do and where I'll want to go. But I do intend to spend 4-5 weeks in South America. Most likely, I'll fly into Buenos Aires and explore both inland and to the North, being sure to see Argentina, Uruguay, Iguazu Falls and a bit of Paraguay and Brazil. I'll probably make my way to Rio or Salvador to catch a flight to Europe.
12MAY09: Europe. This is well into the future, and consequently I have yet to really plan anything out, but I do intend to spend the last six to eight weeks of my trip in Europe. Since I'll be experiencing my 40th birthday just a week after I arrive onto the continent, I am hoping to start in Western Europe, maybe Barcelona and Andorra, or otherwise Ireland, before making my way to Pairs. If everything goes well, I'll be meeting up with several friends just outside of Paris for my 40th! This is very much contingent upon Federico and Louise and whether or not they'll still be living in Paris. If not, then we'll have to choose another destination at which to celebrate...possibly UK if Jeff is still in the area.
From Paris I'd like to make it down to Turkey and basically work my way North, possibly to St. Petersburg, Russia. After that I'll travel South/Southwest, being sure to visit Prague, Munich, Vienna and Budapest before hitting Croatia for some well-needed coastal time.
If time allows, I'd like to end my journey in my favorite place to relax: Negril, Jamaica.
So that is the "nut shell" version. Obviously there will be many changes due to cost of flights, timing, changes of interest and maybe joining up with other travelers for a portion. But that is my outline and I am comfortable with it. I just hope that I am able to experience as much as I possibly can!
