egg liquore? hmmmm can't even conjure up what that would tast like. I can't imagine the impact of seeing the sites in Buchenwald. Any particular differences in the hotels compared to here?

it sorta tastes like a base for ice cream... a bit eggy and kinda thick. No, hotels are pretty much the same wherever we go. The free breakfast is different from the US (always meats...) but othat's about it.

Yay Julie! I'm glad that my email encouraged you to pray. =) It's funny to read your blog and remember all the things that I did on trip. There was so much that was the same, so much that was different. I hope you're having a great time!

the lives of those before us

Buchenwald is such a chilling place. On the day that we went, it was literally freezing cold, and the wind hit us about as hard as the depressing atmosphere. What did you think about eating lunch in the former SS barracks? Eerie... I remember origami and post cards, but no prisoner art. I imagine that would make things simultaneously more uplifting and more bleak. As for Erfurt, Eisenach, Leipzig, and the rest of East Germany...I don't remember much detail either, except long tours that made me very tired and hungry. Of course, I was grateful for the experience and I'd never complain to/around Dr. Whisnant or anyone else who planned the trips. It always bugged me when people did that too!

I do like the B&W pics! I'm curious about the roof top pictures. Did you post them elsewhere? Is there a story behind being able to be on the roof? How did you managed to get up there?

oops, forgot those. Now added.

I love it. The cookies were sweet action. And I agree, too many museums is (are?) too much. You made chai from scratch! I am so proud.

See Mom, I DO update more than once a week.

Two things: 1. your title are always hilarious. 2. i'm so stoked that you're seeing stacy! as I was reading this, I was thinking, I wonder if Stacy and Julie will ever meet up...and then I came to the line where you are! That's great! In google, type ### lbs to kg and it will unlock the secret to the trampoline...maybe.

Wow, I'm glad that your hospital experience was so much better than mine! What did you think of the Haus der Geschichte? It was one of my favorite museums. Bonn is totally in love with Beethoven, and the concert and tour of his house were cool enough, but I was a little bored. What did you think? Anyway, I felt special that you mentioned me in your post, so I thought I should comment. I hope your adventures improve!
