Southern Thailand: Ko Phangan

Written on: Thursday February 21st, 2008

Sadly I have no pictures of Ko Phangan, Khao Sok, or Ko Phi Phi because my camera was stolen my last night on Ko Phi Phi.

Ten of us took a long night train (we had 3rd class, the cheapest seats, which were basically these little wood benches...needless to say, we didn't sleep much!) down to southern Thailand to spend a few days on Ko Phangan, a nice island off the east coast of Thailand. We stayed at a really nice, isolated beach called Haad Sadet. Our bungalows were up on top of cliffs with views over the beautiful beach (a real climb to get to though!) We took longtail boats to the other side of the island where most people stay (it was all booked up though because it was near the full moon, which is a big celebration on the island). There is usually a huge party at the full moon, but it was a holiday/election day so they postponed it and we ended up missing it, but we had a really nice time on the island, relaxing on the beach, trying to fish, and renting motorbikes (which I apted not to drive, especially since the road to our beach was a really bad one!)
