Days 24-25 Managua-Granada-Managua

Written on: Thursday August 16th, 2007

A journal entry from: Central America Road Trip 2007

Still behind in my blogging and not too much to report so I'll combine these 2 days. Got up early, finally found Brenda's number and tried to give her a call. Of course, no one at the Tica Terminal had any change for a 10 cordoba bill (about 50cents) so it took me a while to come up with the coins to use the pay phone. Knowing she likes Granada and not wanting to spend any time in Managua myself, I suggest another trip there with her and she readily agrees. So I go to her new apartment and wait for her to finish packing (why she needs to pack so much for just one night, I don't know). And then after all that she wants to stop at a clothing store, so I can get something nice to wear to go out that night, since she didn't like any of my backpacker wear. Of course , I wind up buying her a few things too. Needless to say by the time we catch the bus to Granada and get settled at our hotel, most of the day is shot. But we have a nice time going out for the night.

The next day, after her sleeping in and using the pool and other miscellaneous delays, we had back to Managua. I had hoped to take off from there for Ometepe my next stop, but figure it might be too late to make it there before dark, so I elect to stay over at the Managua Backpacker Inn again. And Brenda comes over to use the pool there. That night I take Brenda grocery shopping and she fixes me dinner at her small apartment. I like this girl a lot but she throws me way over budget with all her various purchases, fancy meals, etc. She also takes me off my planned activity with all her delays. And finally, can be very melodramatic. For example, she acts jealous when I make some small talk with a couple of gringas we run into at a museum in Granada. Heck, there was nothing to that or anything else and I thought we were just friends anyway. This girl is just too much work.

Total cost for the 2 days - I honestly didn't keep track but way over my budget.
