Day 7 Granada

Written on: Monday July 30th, 2007

A journal entry from: Central America Road Trip 2007

Not much to report today. Another late start. We both had a nice dip in the pool and some breakfast. I went out on my own for some internet and a re-funding of my wallet at the local bank, while Brenda got some extra sleep. Later we went out for some lunch and a tour of some of the sites in town. In the afternoon we went for a boat ride out on the lake. The books I´ve read describe them as a series of islands ¨some inhabited¨and some wildlife inclñuding monkeys. I was expecting another scenic nature tour. It turned out much more interesting than that. These are small islands that mostly wealthy nicas buy (and some gringos) for anywhere from $25K for an small undeveloped island to $100´s of thousands. It seems expensive by nica standards, but in a way not that bad a price for the luxury of having your own island. I should point out that these island palaces all seemed to have water and wired electricity. I saw one nice but fairly modest one for sale for $300K. After stopping to see a small island with one giant tree filled with squirell (sp?) monkees (I´ll add the pics later), we headed back. Another quiet dinner and evening and so ends day 7.
