Firenze - Day1

Written on: Thursday July 8th, 2010

A journal entry from: Italy 2010

Hello all!

Made it to Italy safe and sound...haven't had a chance to upload any photos yet!  But I thought I would post a quick update.

The flights were good for the most part, although it's always tough to sleep on planes, for me anyway.  The flight from Munich - Florence was great!  I love flying Lufthansa, they are so polite.

It is HOT!  Yesterday we saw the temperature on our way in and it was 39 degrees.  So far I have washed 4 shirts, lol.

We took a quick walking tour yesterday, went into the Duomo briefly and got some beautiful pictures against clear blue sky.  Then a few of us snuck off to see the Piazza del Signori and got to see the replica of the Statue of David.  It is HUGE!

We had an early dinner with a few courses, and started to feel pretty rough...made it through dessert and then back to the Hotel.  The Hotel is decent, the rooms have air conditioning!!

Just heading out for a tour of the art gallery, the Uffizi, so I must sign off...but I'll try to post some pictures today...

Love you all, check back soon!

So cool that you have posted your first blog! Hope you are coping with the heat, although now it is night, it should be ok in your air conditioned hotel room! Miss you, and can't wait to see some pictures!

Florence! I just was looking in a magazine that names the best shops in the world - Elio Ferraro in Florence is one of them. I hope you had a chance to check it out!
