New Zealand - Moeraki and Dunedin (boulders and more penguins)

Written on: Saturday July 11th, 2009

On our way to Dunedin (just to sleep there) we passed the Moeraki Boulders, strange large spherical boulders scattered along a stretch of the beach, which are being exposed by the erosion of the coast. According to Maori legends they are the remains of food baskets of the gods. You can see from those which have cracked open that they are hollow and have some kind of quartz crystals inside.

And we couldn't resist some more penguin spotting by a lighthouse too!
