West to Salar de Chiguana

Written on: Monday August 6th, 2007

A journal entry from: Bolivia, Peru, and the Galapagos!

Today was a day of volcano viewing though the weather was cold and very very windy (I wouldn't be surprised if it was below freezing). But first we drove west through quinoa farms and the villages of Manica, San Juan, and Chiguana. Then across a small salt flat known as Salar de Chiguana which is overlooked by Volcan Ollague. This volcano is one of the tallest in Bolivia and it straddles the border with Chile.
