Salt Flats, Isla Incahuasi

Written on: Sunday August 5th, 2007

A journal entry from: Bolivia, Peru, and the Galapagos!

Out in the middle of the Salt Flats, we encountered an island covered with cactus. The locals had setup bathroom facilities (phew!) here, as well as a cafe. About 20 other Landcruisers (the only vehicle that we ever saw during the circuit) were also stopped here. While we explored the island, our cook and the drivers prepared our lunch: grilled llama, cucumber & tomato salad, and quinoa (a local grain that can grow above 13,000 ft). The food was delicious!!
