Fifteen hours crumpled in the back corner of an overnight bus can take the joys out of travel, but arriving in Mandalay, the last royal capital, made the trip worthwhile.  We have visited ancient sites via trishaw, miniature Mazda pick-up trucks, boat, and horse cart.  Great diversity of people, food and customs.  You can wander some city streets, local villages or night market and be the only tourist.  Lots of stories to be told but certain care for discretion is always evident in this country run by a military junta. Off on the train to some hill towns in the northeast...
