Hoi An, Vietnam

A journal entry from: Southeast Asia

A charming and historical city that we slowly developed a love for.  At first glance it seemed only to be a retail mecca of tailor shops ready to exploit your vanity for tailored suits and silk dresses. But  the city has retained its historical beauty in the architecture of the shops and old riverside buildings.  We spent several days (between measurements and fittings) wandering the streets noticing the details of buildings, boats, bridges and faces.  (Vespas, too, of course - Greg's latest obsession - the Italian made scooters that he has been photographing in every town. Watch out, Nelson, Vespa franchise to come!)

After an e-mail of encouragement from our girls, our own vanity took hold and we plunged into the cult of made-to-measure clothes.  Greg will wow you with his suit, shirt and shoes and if we can moderate our love for Vietnamese food and beer, we might still be able to fit into all our purchases.
