A journal entry from: A summer in Asia

Here are all my photos from Beijing, including Great Wall and Forbidden city!

Today I visited Great wall of China and hiked in the hot weather about 8 km along the wall. After a night of restless "sleep" in the hot hostel room I woke up 6:30 to have shower and get ready for great wall. On the way the subway I bought Bao-zhi, vegetable pancake and egg-roll freshly made. This was lunch and dinner all in all 1 euro, and I could even share it with my 2 friends I hiked with. I think it has something to do with that the heat is not making me hungry at all.

Together with a french and a chinese-speaker I went to Great wall by local bus for about 4 euros, a 4-hour ride! Exhausted from the bus ride we finally arrived in great wall and took a cable car directly up to the wall. I think that old cable-car might have been the scariest during that excursion. Small, old cable-cars crawling up sloowly high up in the air towards the wall...

The hike on the wall wasnt that hard as I would have thought. I think it might have helped that I did so many long jogging tours this spring in Uppsala. The scenery at the wall is stunning and you can see for yourself in the photos I linked to in the top of this blog entry. Isn't the great wall of China beautiful?
