Bangkok to Koh Phangan - No more copy handbag or copy watch for me

A journal entry from: South East Asia

Got out of Hong Kong on Wednesday and down to Bangkok.  Crazy city, maybe, but yet still a city.  The hoping streets, endless markets and street vendor definitely add to the experience, yet at 6pm their felt as if their was nothing to do but have a few drinks and lay around.

I got a warm welcome to the famous 'bucket' drink.  After a few drinks, I thought this was a good idea.  Needless to say it sent me well on my way.  One night in Bangkok was enough for me, so we headed down south after only one night their.

The trip down to Koh Phangan (Island off the south tail of Thailand) started just after 6pm on Thursday and we arrived to the island at 1230 the next day, only to get on the back of a pick up truck with 8 other people and all our bags for a half our trip across the island to our water front Bungalows.

Its pretty chill over here.  Lay in a hammock all day, hang out with people, have a few drinks and head to a party at night.  Last night was the Half Moon Party.  I think I must have downed at least 10 red bulls through out the night and didnt stop dancing with the group of people we came with for about 5 to 6 hours.  It didnt hit me that I was tired till I sat down for the first time.  Needless to say it was a long night.

Today we rented some bikes.  Roaming around the island, maybe find a place in the south of the island, as we are in the north right now in the middle of no where.  Rustic, yes, practical for getting into town late at night and then home again, no.

Other then that, the island is beautiful.  Watching out for coconut trees.  Apparently falling coconuts are the number one cause of death for tourist on this island.  This morning their were a few falling on our bungalow.  I think some the guys that are building places around us dropped some stuff on our place too because it was shaking pretty good at one point.

The is all I have got for now.  Going to be here till probably the first of July then to Koh Tao and to the west coast too probably.  Looking forward to doing some scuba and some treks in the North when we get up their.

Sounds like you are having a great time.. I also did the half moon party and it was pretty crazy.. the full mooon is supposed to be 5-10 times bigger.. When you head back towards Bangkok, you should drop by Kanchanaburi, that is where i made friends with the Gibbon.. there is also nice waterfalls, you can pet tigers and the Bridge over the river Kwai.. it's just West of Bankok..
