Au Revoir Paris!

A journal entry from: Around the World in 80 Days!

Hi all!

It is our last night in Paris.  Yesterday we headed out to Villa Savoy to see a modernist villa design by le Corbusier.  It took three trains and a bus to get out there, but at least we had a fairly relaxing morning.

Next we headed to Centre Pompidou (aka the inside out building) which is very interesting looking from the outside and houses a number of different art exhibits and galleries.  We spent a couple hours wandering through and then thought we'd head to Roland Garros Stade to see if we could get tickets to an evening French Open tennis match.  We were unsuccessful.  Oh well... we've been following it on CNN (the only english tv we have here!) and the tournament sounds like it's been a really great one!

Today we climbed the Eiffel tower.  It was really great.  We managed to skip the lines and got to the top before it started to rain too heavily.  The view was spectacular as Paris is really a city you have to see from above.  We finished off the day by wandering past the expensive stores along Champs Elysees before heading home again.

We are looking forward to our trip to London tomorrow morning via the chunnel!  We are excited to be around english speaking people and able to read menus again.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone at home!
