Last night in London!

A journal entry from: Around the World in 80 Days!

Hello all,

Well, after being gone so long it seems hard to believe we are flying home tomorrow.  We have spent the last four days seeing as much of London as we can.

Our train from Paris to London was a high-speed train travelling through the chunnel underneath the English Channel and we made the trip in just over 2-1/2 hours.  As soon as we stepped off the train we started 'bleeding' British Pounds and have been reeling at the exchange rate.

We arrived into London early so were not able to check in to our hostel right away.  Although the room hasn't been the best we've stayed in we are in a great location right beside the British Museum so we spent the afternoon in the museum before going back to check in.

We spent our second day at the Tower of London and walking along the riverside 'Millenium Mile'.  The tower actually took up the majority of our day so Shakespeare's Globe theatre and the Tate Modern Galleries were pushed off to day three.  We finished our third day in London catching the musical 'Wicked' at the Apollo Theatre.

Our final full day in London was a very busy one.  We took an early morning walk through Hyde Park then waited around the Palace for the changing of the guard.  It seemed like a special extended version as the whole performance took well over an hour.  We overheard a few people saying the Queen's birthday was being celebrated this weekend so we think the marching bands may have been rehearsing a few of their pieces today.  After the Palace we went on through Westminister Abbey and past Big Ben and the British Parliament.  We didn't get the chance to hop on the London Eye but spent some more time by the river before heading home to pack our things up.

We have to be at the airport by 7AM tomorrow morning which means we should be leaving our hostel by 6.  Looking forward to getting home.  We won't have an opportunity to post our London pictures untill we get home but will still make sure to do so the first chance we get.

Look forward to seeing everyone!
