A journal entry from: Europe 2013

We spent a couple of days in Die in the summer home so generously lent to us by our friends Etienne and Dominique Zahnd. Die is a lovely place in the Drôme valley of Provence surrounded by beautiful mountains. We took advantage of the wonderful fall weather and did a couple of hikes in the hills above town. Unfortunately by the time Etienne, Dominique and their two nephews arrived we were hit by a huge rainstorm. It cleared up enough in the afternoon for us to be able to rake some leaves and gather horse chestnuts. It made us realize how much we don't miss house ownership. We left the next day for the long trek north to Amsterdam. On the way we enjoyed great weather for our drive through the Jura mountains and, further on, the Rhine valley in Germany. We dropped our faithful VW off for winter storage and zipped into Amsterdam for a little sightseeing and a last Indonesian ristaffel before heading for the airport and tomorrow home (or a least Calgary).
