Die, France

A journal entry from: Europe 2013

Still chasing that elusive summer, we continued our trip down the coast. The weather mostly cooperated and we were even able to spend a couple of beach days. Still it is the fall and we woke up one morning to a chilly 5c. We found out why there are so many kids in the campgrounds. It's the fall school vacation for the northern countries. First it was the Dutch, then the Germans and, beginning next week, the French. They get a couple of weeks off and many of them seem to hit the roads and head for the coast. I feel for Canadian teachers and kids working right through until Christmas. The campgrounds, when open, were somewhat busy but we were able to get beach spots in St. Tropez and Agay, a lovely spot further along. Tired of the bustle and the glitz of the Côte d'Azur we pointed the van  north through Provence to begin the long trek to Amsterdam. (Not really so long for most people but we are "l'ecargot transhumants" in our VW combi - merci Etienne.) On our way we followed the little roads through mountain valleys that we know so well from our years of biking in this area. Coming north and getting away from the coast we were plunged into full scale autumn with the glorious leaf colours that entails.

Love the stone and provencal photos. Finally you are wearing shorts - I think I prefer (from photos) the warmth of the south to the chill of the north. Sharon B.

I had car accident (it wasn't my fault, it was pakerd when another car run into it). Few days after I've received a letter from my isurance company saying: Please contact us to confirm how the details of the other party were optained? . Also they are asking me if I was a witness of the accident or did a witness provide me with information. I don't know what exactly they are asking about? Dothey want to know how I get details of the other driver or are they asking about the company that have my car now to repair it?
