A journal entry from: Europe 2013

Our first stop was near Amsterdam to pick up the VW, patiently waiting for us after a long winter. After a slight rebound to get a leaky water tank fixed we hit the road. First to Alkmaar to watch the weekly cheese market. This a spectacle for cheese lovers to see as over 30,000 pounds of Edam, Gouda and Leiden cheeses are auctioned off. From there we drove to the north tip of the Noord Holland peninsula. This is a jumping off point for the island of Texel, a cyclist's paradise filled with a good variety of cycling routes. We continued our cycling further to to east in the province of Friesland. This area is ringed with lakes and canals while being low and flat. As a result cyclists  have the impression of being ringed by sailboats while riding across what appears to be flat terrain. As ones energy level falters it's time to pull into one of the many cafés for a little appelgebaken mit slagroom.

Hey Bev can you tell Jan when you meet them that the kids can't go to the cabin this year - didn't get the babies' passports. Maybe next year. Have a great trip and visit with them all.
