Koh Sukorn, Thailand

Written on: Thursday February 2nd, 2012

A journal entry from: S.E. Asia 2012

To get to the next island, Koh Kradan, we took the four island tour which involved  cruising , snorkeling, and swimming in caves. The last stop was our island. It's a very small island with beautiful beaches and just a few resorts. People come here to snorkel and skin dive as the reefs at either end of the island are reputed to be among the best diving sights in the country. Our next destination was Koh Sukorn. We had an overnight in Trang. It's nice to experience a true Thai place for a bit after all this time spent at resorts. Eating at a night market is always fun and it's amazing to see the number of Thais who live on or near the coast but probably never get near the islands. Sukorn was absolutely fantastic!  We stayed at a lovely resort with a wonderful restaurant. Sukorn is an island  inhabited by real Thais. They are an industrious bunch living on rubber, logging, rice growing, fishing and of course tourism. It's a fairly flat island and not too big; so excellent for riding around. Our days have consisted of riding in the morning, reading and sunning in the afternoon and eating great food at night, with one or two massages thrown in for good measure.
