Koh Siboya, Thailand

Written on: Sunday January 15th, 2012

A journal entry from: S.E. Asia 2012

Our next island, Koh Siboya, was the exact opposite of Railay. There is only one resort on the island and it is reached by a complicated system of songthaews (pickup trucks with benches) and  longtail boats. We went there because one of the restaurant's dishes (eggplant salad ) is featured in our Thai cookbook back home. The food there was among the best we have tasted in Thailand. It's not really a resort but a collection of bungalows and small houses often owned by westerners. Our place Paul house is owned by a Canadian. Our days there followed a very nice and gentle rhythm; breakfast followed by a bike ride or hike around the island. A swim and then lunch. Reading and lazing in the afternoon with a coffee shake to finish the day off. Drinks by the beach to watch the amazing sunsets then a great meal at the resort restaurant. Very chilling.

Those look awesome from the great WHITE north. B & R returned from S.Af. Wed and R & J are due back next week. We just watch all the comings and goings for now - loving the vicarious adventure. 'Went to Rob & Ruth's new place in a timber baron's estate. So cool - booking us all in next Dec for a Xmas adventure and ordering snow. Keep us up to date - love it and you. Sharon B.

Have been enjoying your updates with pictures. The food looks so delicious as do the drinks. Were in Seattle for the weekend, RS Travel Talks on Sat., and a brief snowstorm in Seattle today (Sun.) Around freezing now on the West Coast. Best to you both and C & B when you see them. Keep posting, we enjoy reading!

Ya, we've got snow . just a bit so far. It's bright and crisp, so it's ok by me!!! Love the pics. Wan across the street came over with some mail from the Mayo clinic to you. I'm assuming it's nothing to worry about. so he'll keep it till you return. Have fun,. Barb
