Day 10 - Playa del Carmen

Written on: Monday March 27th, 2006

A journal entry from: Mexico 2006

Im feeling much better! Yeah for Activated Charcoal pills, they flushed the bad bacteria right out of my system.

After spending our morning lazing about and figuring out what we wanted to do with the remainder of our visit in Playa, we headed out to deal with the tour touts. We talked to a few and heres what weve got booked for the next couple of days:
Wednesday - Chitchen Itza and snokelling in a cenotes
Thursday - Visiting the ruins of Coba and Tulum
Were very excited!

Did I mention that everything here is priced in USD? So, when we booked our tours, we only had mexican pesos. The bank ATMs dont give out USD. So, we pay a conversion rate at the ATM (CAD to pesos) then the tour touts take the tour price in USD and convert it to mexican pesos, so I think were paying twice the conversion cost. Im confused.

In the afternoon, we had a 2 hour lunch. The service was very slow, but thats okay, were on vacation!! I again had the beef tacos and Kevin ordered a chicken club sandwich.

We spent the remainer of the day at the beach near our hotel, trying to catch some sun. Were still pretty white, were hoping to get more sun next week in Puerto Vallarta.

The weather has been not bad. They have a cold front passing through called El Norte which brings cold, strong winds and clouds. The temperature has been around 25 C during the day. This is very different from Puerto Escondido which was 30 C everyday with not a cloud in sight.
