Work, House, Roomies

A journal entry from: Japan

I've now officially started working at my home branch. It is a smallish school in an area called Konomiya. It is a ways out of the city (about 40 minutes by subway/train from my house), and has alomst a country feel to it. It is much smaller and calmer than the other branches I've been too. There are usually 2 or 3 teachers on at a time, whereas other schools may have between 7 and 10. the building itself is also quite nice...newer-loooking than the others I've been to. I think I lucked out in being assigned there. The students are also really good so far. I've included a few pictures of the school, and of one of my students, Akemi, who does the tea ceremony, and always wears her kimono to class. Next up, my house...room #503 in the lovely Maison Soleil. I've included pics of the living room, front door, views from the front and rear balconys, and the building from afar. It's a pretty nice place, small, as to be expected, but it gets the job done. Last, we have my roommates, two other Nova teachers: Cody "Blue Jacket" Edwards from Columbus, Ohio, and Vladymir "Panther" Cessant from Miami, Florida.
