A journal entry from: Round the world trip
From Tokyo we made a brief stop at Mount Fuji before heading further west. We stayed for a couple of days in Nagoya and visited Takayama where we stayed in a Buddhist Temple. We then headed for Kyoto.
We visited lots of temples and shrines, not only in Kyoto itself but also in Nara where we saw the biggest Buddha in Japan, housed in the biggest wooden building in the world. There were also lots of Nara deer wandering about. We visited Kobe and Osaka very briefly and went to a Sake museum - they gave us Sake to taste as well, which was much appreciated!
On the way west we stopped off in Hiroshima where we visited the Peace Museum.
