A journal entry from: Round the world trip

We hired a car in Wellington and drove west to the Wairarapa valley where we visited some more vineyards. Heading north, we also stopped in Hawke's bay where we cycled round the countryside, visiting vineyards, a cider maker and a chocolate factory.

On our way up the country, we stopped off at lake Taupo, where we visited steaming pits at "The Craters of the Moon", caused by geothermal heating. We stopped off at Huka Falls, and then spent some time walking round the "Thermal Wonderland" at Waiotapu where minerals in the rocks lead to some pretty crazy colours!

We spent a day and night in the Coromandel peninsula before driving into Auckland for our last stop before heading home!
