A journal entry from: South East Asia

I spent 2 very busy days in Kratie.  I left Mondulkiri on the 7.30am bus and arrived here around 2.30pm.  I went and checked into a guesthouse and jumped into a tuk-tuk to get on a boat to see the endangered freshwater dolphins.  Apparently there are only about 75 of them living in the Mekong between Cambodia and Laos.  The calves keep mysteriously dying and no one can work out why.  We saw quite a few dolphins, although unfortunately they were too quick for any great photos.  Today I went with some people I met on the boat to Koh Trong, an island 15 minutes from Kratie.  We hired bicycles and cycled the 10km around the island.  It's like going back in time and very beautiful... rice fields (although many were flooded out!), pomelo trees and a Vietnamese floating village.
