Bangkok - Round 1!

Written on: Wednesday September 14th, 2011

A journal entry from: South East Asia

After an epic travel mission lasting nearly 22 hours I made it to Bangkok!  I had to get a taxi to the ferry in Langkawi, ferry to the port near Satun, taxi to Satun town, minibus to Hat Yai and an overnight bus to Bangkok!  The road in Satun was completely flooded which took ages to get through and on the way to Bangkok the bus got a flat tire which took a couple hours to fix!

Apparently my first day in Bangkok was Buddha Day and all the Buddhist temples were free for tourists to visit, so I hired a tuk-tuk and went to 3 Buddhist temples.

My hostel didn't rate much on the fun scale - very restauranty and not overly social.  However I met an Australian girl when we were having dinner and we hung out for the duration of my time in Bangkok.  We went to a live music rooftop bar the first night and met a few others while drinking there.  Yesterday we just wandered Khao San Road and did a bit of shopping, then out for dinner and drinks with some people she had met after I had gone to bed the previous night.

 Now off to Koh Samet!
