Zagreb Day 2

Written on: Saturday August 11th, 2007

A journal entry from: Summer Travels 2007

Zagreb almost redeemed itself today.  Almost.

We stumbled upon a street with rows of really neat little cafes and had a coffee.  We then did a wander and came across a cafe that was dedicated completely to JRR Tolkien called Tolkien's House... not really sure what the link is between him and Croatia but the cafe was decked out in Lord of the Rings memorabilia including an Elijah Wood autograph.  Hahah.  Then we had a really nice lunch of Croatian tapas.

We had earlier seen a whole bunch of good shops but by the time we finished lunch and wandered down, they were all CLOSED.  Apparently Zagreb is a true no fun city and everything closes at 3pm on a Saturday!!  Aaargh!!  So NO FUN.

We were just killing time at a cafe when random of all randoms, ran into Sally and her boyfriend Adam so we had a couple of drinks with them and checked out each other's photos and exchanged trip stories before we headed to dinner and our bus!!
