Tokyo Disney Sea

Written on: Sunday July 4th, 2010

A journal entry from: Tokyo

I was beyond impressed at Japan's Disney theme park. Well, this adult version since I haven't been to the regular Disney one.

From very detailed settings, OCD level cleanliness, lots of smiling staff, decent prices and a generally well organized location; it really was worth the time and money.

Because there was so much to do in Tokyo and our time was short we were only in the park for about 5 hours.... though I am planning to return someday and spend more time.

Each area revolves around a theme.... Little Mermaid, Indiana Jones, Cape Cod...etc.. and the rides, activities, buildings....etc revolve around the said theme but in excellent detail. This included really elaborate man-made mountains, waterfalls, buildings...etc...

Something interesting to note was the lack of greasy food carts that usually are scattered throughout Wonderland back in Canada. In Tokyo Disney Sea the carts were mainly drinks and popcorn (with different flavors for different areas) and then a couple of spots with more food selection and tables. Makes sense though since eating and walking is very rare and not looked favorably upon elsewhere in Japan. Thing was the prices were still pretty good from about ¥300 (unless you buy the collector popcorn container at ¥1100).

The entrance fee was around ¥5000 (about $50 depending on exchange rates) but after 3pm it is reduced to about ¥3000. And there is no extra charge for fast tracking rides (aka. signing up for a ride in advance so you do not have to wait in the longer line). Plus the wait line time is posted both at the entrance to the ride and at a information board located at the entrance to the park.
