Okazaki: About the city

Written on: Saturday April 17th, 2010

A journal entry from: Aichi Prefecture

A little more about the new home.....

Okazaki-shi is located on the main island of Honshu in the prefecture (province) of Aichi.

It is a decent sized city... well, with a population of over 300,000 I would say it is big. But it is probably a general size for a Japanese city. Hum, for readers back home: Niihama is to Bond Head what Okazaki is to Barrie.

Key features of the city include Okazaki-jo (castle) that was built in the 1400s, temple of Takisan and a number of small local festivals. As well as about 70% of Japan's fireworks are produced in the area. Oh yes. And a massive Aeon mall with Justco that could probably pass for its own village (joking).
