A journal entry from: In the spiced Indian air....

Welcome to my blog for my adventures of 2009!  Jennelle and I decided to take this trip last fall. I love the feeling of being able to choose anywhere in the world to experience! We are so lucky...

We decided on India, Nepal and Tibet... we had planned on Bhutan as well but upon learning about the government charge of $200/day to stay in the country, we put it on the backburner for now.

At Christmas time, I also got thinking about finally pursuing my dream of living overseas. I know Jennelle has wanted to see Ireland so I asked her if she'd be interested in moving to the UK after our trip. We are SO on the same page, she said yes without hesitation! We eventually narrowed it down to London, and even had the opportunity to send our belongings on a shipping container thanks to Jaime and Geoff! :)

So here we are, about to embark on the most eventful year of our lives!  We are flying through London both on the way to India and back in order to scope out areas to live. For 2 months, we will be exploring India, Nepal and Tibet with no structured itinerary. Yes, as an Erickson, this is completely against my nature!  But I think it will allow us the flexibility to enjoy our trip "organically" (as Jennelle puts it).

We will be gone from April 13 - June 17, then back in Calgary for July and August to make a little money and see family etc before moving overseas.

I have tied up many loose ends - I have found a renter for my condo, booked my moving day, arranged storage for the things I am not moving (thanks grandpa!), bought plane tickets, found people to care for Java (thanks M&D, Norene and Tan!), started the process to import Java to the UK.... There is still so much to do, but I'm confident it will fall in to place!

That's all for now :)

I hope you have lots of fun! It's so sad that poor little Java has to go on a long plane ride by himself. He's a tough guy, though! Love you lots! -Cassie (as said above)
