Visiting Levack

Written on: Saturday December 29th, 2007

A journal entry from: Christmas 2007

Kevin and Cheryl took us to see some of the Kay cousins in Levack today.  Levack is a small town about the size of the highschool I went to.  It has 3 streets and 4 avenues and the Kay's almost ended up back in Levack when they moved!!  That would have been crazy.  Levack is the type of city that lives and dies by its industry.  The whole city is basically employed by Inco the big nickel mining company.  When the mine is busy the town is busy when the mine is dead so is the town.  Housing prices fluctuate from about 8,000 - 80,000 for a Single Family Dwelling.  This depends on whether the mine is hot or not!! Can I get some of those housing prices please.  80,000 - 100,000 would get you basically the biggest house in the town.  Quiet a difference to Penticton where you can't even get a single bedroom condo for under $300,000 let alone a house.

On a different note.  I don't think we are going to be telling people we are from Penticton anymore.  Wait before you go crazy let me explain.  We have mentioned to 4 or 5 different people that we are from Penticton and their only response when we've asked if they have heard of it is... "Isn't that where that guy killed all those women and fed them to his pigs..."  Apparently the world is retarded and keeps screwing up Robert Pickton with Penticton.  No joke.  So from now on we are from Kelowna.  Not Pickton ( Or penticton ).  I thought this was kinda funny.
