I am writing this at 5:30 am from the 16x20 deck, on a beautiful teakwood table, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is a balmy, but cool 70 degrees. I can hear the rain, surf, and the occasional car getting an early start on an adventure. I smell the sea salts.

Well, let’s start at the beginning….

Wednesday evening Mom, Dad, Esteban and I drove to Oakland so we wouldn’t have to sit in traffic Thursday morning on the way to the airport. We awoke and had the complimentary breakfast at the hotel, bagels and cream cheese…..

Following the “Terrorist Dance”, check your luggage here, no take it over there and give it to the TSA guy, take your shoes off, remove all liquids that have been neatly placed in a Zip Lock baggie, and place them a bin. Walk through the detector, put your shoes on, dance in reverse….Thank goodness I had left my bomb vest at home. They did inspect my salami that I had forgotten to place in a bin…..( hummm I wonder what that would have looked like in the x-ray machine).

We flew OAK to HML with no problem; the flight was only 80% full so we had ample room. We were a busy little boy on the flight though, buckle and unbuckle, and when that got boring, run laps from the front of the plane to the rear and back again greeting everyone along the way. Sequester the tall man flight attendant; bring him to the back of the plane. Yes, a busy little boy. About 3 hours into the 5 ½ hour flight, whew, the angel fell asleep.

We found Kim and Skylar, our Thursday Oahu hosts easily and were promptly leid. After an uneventful ride to the North Shore we took our shoes off at a beach park and baptized ourselves in the warm waters. We had pork tacos, lots of pork in Hawaii, beer and life was good. Kim’s apartment was beautifully decorated completely from items she had acquired from garage sales, Rattan furniture, Hawaiian curios and a banana hammock. We will be garage sale-ing on this trip!

Sleep and back to the airport on Friday for the hop to Kona.

We arrived earlier than my Kona hosts so I promptly went to the market and picked up some much need items, beer and beer. I drove to the timeshare and waited in the parking lot for Tina and Marks’ arrival.

Now, the time share, unbelievable, pictures cannot do it justice, but I will leave it up to them to describe the rooms and design. We are looking forward to our complimentary breakfast and adventures for Saturday.

There is ambient light illuminating the skies over the eastern lava flow (Kailua-Kina is built on a lava flow) and palm trees are silhouetted. The ocean is turning silver as it appears in the west.

Another day in paradise……….
